Introduction

Olaria House by NJ+ Arquitetos Associados is a showcase of architectural ingenuity and homage to Brazilian ceramics. Presented at CASACOR SP, this project embodies the fusion of modern design with traditional craftsmanship, paying tribute to the rich heritage of Brazilian potteries. Spanning 200 m², the residence seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, inviting occupants to immerse themselves in a serene and contemplative environment.

Conceptualization

Dubbed Casa Olaria NJ+, the design revolves around the concept of introspection and seclusion, juxtaposed with moments of communal living. Drawing inspiration from Belgian architect Juliaan Lampens, the architects crafted a cylindrical volume within the living room, serving as a subtle partition for the bedroom. Organic shapes reminiscent of Brazilian ceramics dominate the space, accentuated by minimalist aesthetics and warm, inviting finishes.

Design Elements

The interior exudes a sense of tranquility, with Legno Nórdico finishes by Bontempo adorning the ceiling, reminiscent of ribbed slabs from Brazilian modernism. A corten bookcase and curated ceramics add depth to the living room, while natural materials and neutral tones create a contemporary minimalist ambiance. The suite, accessible via a ramp, offers a serene retreat, complete with bespoke furnishings and understated elegance.

Integration with Nature

Beyond the confines of the residence, an organic pocket of landscaping by Bia Abreu enhances the connection with nature, incorporating beams and water mirrors to create a harmonious outdoor sanctuary. The thoughtful arrangement of furniture and the play of light and shadow further enrich the sensory experience, blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior realms.

Artistic Expression

Olaria House features a curated selection of Brazilian design pieces, including works by Jorge Zalszupin, Sergio Rodrigues, and Arthur Casas Design. The space also showcases artworks by renowned artists such as Mira Schendel and Zanini De Zanine, alongside ceramics by local artisans, honoring the legacy of traditional craftsmanship in Vale do Jequitinhonha.

Conclusion

Olaria House stands as a testament to NJ+ Arquitetos Associados’ commitment to innovation and cultural preservation. Through a harmonious blend of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship, the residence invites occupants on a sensory journey, celebrating the rich tapestry of Brazilian art and heritage.
