NATURCLAD – W Wood Soffit at Zurich Headquarters: A Sustainable Design Endeavor by PARKLEX PRODEMA

Zurich’s North American headquarters, situated in Chicago, USA, stands as a testament to the company’s core values of strength and stability. Crafted by the esteemed architecture firm Goettsch Partners, this contemporary edifice comprises three stacked glass prisms. Notably, the underside of the largest prism boasts a striking wood soffit crafted using PARKLEX PRODEMA’s signature NATURCLAD – W wood panels.

Design Concept

The building’s commitment to sustainability earned it Platinum LEED certification, the pinnacle of green recognition. Goettsch Partners integrated various eco-conscious construction elements to fulfill stringent environmental standards, with NATURCLAD – W wood panels serving as a complementary component to the structure’s sustainable ethos.

Innovative Design Features

A sophisticated array of horizontal sunshades adorns the facade, enhancing natural light penetration while minimizing solar heat gain. Additionally, double walls help regulate temperature differentials between the interior and exterior spaces, leading to significant reductions in energy consumption.

Naturclad-W Wood Soffit

The NATURCLAD – W wood panels, prominently featured on the underside of the headquarters’ largest prism, form an expansive wood soffit. This application not only contributes to the LEED certification but also aligns with sustainable practices, as the panels are PEFC Certified and coated with a weather-resistant finish. Consequently, the space promotes outdoor engagement and communal gatherings while championing the use of eco-friendly materials.
